The reasons why for travel

Of course, the "reasons why for travel" are about why "adults" like to travel, the child isn't the traveler, the adult takes the child on a trip, and if you are parent, this makes a big difference.
For example, I know 2 couples who traveled with their children, one couple had a "harmonious" relationship with their children, the other couple were too busy arguing to build harmony with their children.  Obviously the children who had harmonious relations with their parents enjoyed the traveling experience, the other children were always complaining about leaving their friends to travel and see cultures they weren't interested in.
The adult who enjoys travel can be seeking adventure, or visiting the places their parents built memories, that they say are well worth going to see.
Yet  nothing in my research indicates that travel can be a hassle for the traveler who wants to save $$$, I know from personal experience, having an attitude of gratitude isn't usually helpful, not when all that could go wrong, i.e. "Murphy's Law" does  hit you like sledgehammer.
On the other hand, travel is an adventure, a challenge, and the travel itself teaches about how to live with adversity, one thing I can tell you, take lots of pictures, when you get home, I guarantee that you'll remember the best things that happened, and all the nasty will fade way.
I advise traveling when you are young, that's when you can take hassle with a grain of salt, but for the over 62 crowd, you can still enjoy taking a trip to change the scene.  Maybe you still need to finish a bucket list, waiting until you are retired may not be the best of times if your health is failing, yet, for some, travel is a good way to enjoy those final years.  Even with health issues, the process of meeting new people, seeing new places helps you forget that aging is a problem.
However, I don't suggest looking to "$$$ saving budget travel" when you are having health problems.
I do suggest sticking to 1 destination city, make that your base, this is when you need to spend the money for 4+star hotels + booking the top grade local tour company to take you to 1-day max nearby cities, for many this means using a travel agent that you trust to fulfill your needs, make that travel agent responsible for keeping on top of your trip, which can add an extra charge to your bill for a trip you want to remember was the best trip you ever took.  I do guarantee that you will come home and look at the pictures, talk to your friends about your trip instead of telling them about your ailments.
Speaking from over 2 decades of travel expertise, experience is the best teacher.
Knowing you've been there allows you to realize there is a world out there where people are not like you, but that's fun of it.  And finding those who look different will make you realize they have the same concerns as you do.  Knowing that they have similar concerns  helps to relate to what you hear and read about the current state of the "global" world—although they may not look like you, they realize they aren't in charge of the events that are directed by those too powerful forces who say they are the "adults" in charge.
