IS TRAVEL NOW A CLASS ISSUE?

PLEASE NOTE:

Lest I be considered an insurrectionist or a domestic terrorist.  In this post and succeeding posts in this era of crimes against the state, I am asking questions.

I have no opinions.

It is my understanding that the host of this blog, Google,  has announced a ban on YouTube for speech that would create  a conflict.  I am not certain about what Google feels is not in the best interest of their policy and the public policy.  I do hope that Google launches a "badge" program to show that published blogspot posts have been approved, then like a Good Housekeeping Seal I can proudly display it.

I am observing how the world is coping with the still raging pandemic, and I also observe that those who have money, thus, CLASS, does have a part in the making of plans to travel.

I don't have any opinion, since "opinions" in this era of "insurrection" and "false narratives" that are aren't approved by a specially created governmental source that codes and codifies an opinion, is not "officially" allowed.

Does the observation of travel patterns and destinations constitute an opinion?

I have no "officially" approved answer, but it may be that published facts from officially approved sources will play an important part in the determination whether travel is now a class issue, and the popular well known magazine "Travel & Leisure" is my source for today's post.

Here is one just example of a CLASS ISSUE FOR TRAVEL to a popular country that once wanted tourism, but now has all sorts of restrictions, which are costly to implement, re the testing & possible inability to do anything but remain in a hotel until the requirements are accomplished, this is from an article published in "Travel & Leisure Magazine" on January 11, 2021.

Travel to Germany just got more difficult as the country recently implemented stricter lockdown rules against a second wave of COVID-19.

On Monday, all of Germany's 16 federal states enacted tougher lockdown measures, including new travel and gathering restrictions. Now, anyone traveling to Germany from a "high-risk area" (which includes the U.S.) will be required to provide two negative COVID-19 tests before being allowed to move about the country, DW reported. A quarantine period of five days is required between the two tests, even if the first test is negative.

Travelers are also required to complete an online registration form before entering.

Germany's prior restrictions — which included closing nonessential shops, encouraging employees to work from home, closing schools, and banning alcohol consumption in public — were set to remain in place until Jan. 10. However, since the measures have had little impact on the spread of the virus, they have been extended.

The country is on alert against the new, seemingly more contagious strain of COVID-19 that emerged in the UK. Despite many countries shutting down travel from the UK, the coronavirus strain was found to have already spread to more than 40 countries around the world, including Germany and the U.S."

WHY TRAVEL?

PLEASE NOTE:

Let I be considered an insurrectionist or a domestic terrorist.

The reason for travel is so varied that I can ask a question.

QUESTION:  why travel

I can also ask a series of questions about why travel.

Does each individual determine why they travel?

Is travel a family or individual decision?

What does travel mean?

Is travel a way of participating in the world?

Does travel allow for down time from the chores of living?

In this 2021 world the need to travel well for less $ may no longer applicable.

QUESTION:  Why?

ANSWER #1:  2021 has come with a continued terrible pandemic and MEMORIES OF 2020 POLITICAL disputes/invasions of property/deaths that ensued,  and in 2021, even the sacred houses of government defiled with 5 deaths as a result, and it may be that POTUS 46 and his government may enact laws about exactly what is considered seditious or akin to domestic terrorism.

ANSWER #2:  If I do express my thoughts which I hope will not be considered seditious or akin to domestic terrorism, I could possibly express an opinion contrary to those who in the power structure of government.  I could offend the powerful corporations that can silence my means of blogging should they decide I have violated their rules.

In essence, I am offering just information, no opinions.

I will become a researcher for my readers of what was formerly an opinion based on knowledge travel for less $ blog.  For the foreseeable future  I will turn the focus of my travel blog into observations and questions about travel.  I'll also offer direct quotes from newspapers in other countries that express their opinion about the viability of traveling to their country.

what's the travel picture in 2021?

If the global world stops being the doctor and mandating no this, no that, yet somehow in the unhealthiest situation, flying in an airplane, there's nothing to worry about, then all sense of what's really going on is passed onto the top in charge of the masses, who determine if and whether we can  ever again enjoy our past level of prosperity.

Sadly, this is the 21st century of another 1920's when the rich became richer and poor starved or worked harder to get less of the goody pie, there will be in 2021 travel for the upper classes, those special persons who have prospered during the virus, they work from home, those priviliged who are in the best situation they've ever been, sleep late, do less, answer the phone or do work only when necessary, the bosses aren't planning to check up on their chosen few special pet workers.

Let's forget about planeloads of tourists going to Paris, or to Madrid or Milan for the fashion parties, now it's back to the posh transport of smaller boats, charter plane for those who have the spare cash to indulge, they want to have charter everything and the charter companies will grow exponentially in 2021, from this point on, my travel blog will be primarily about my best travel memories and I have some 3 or 4 decades to recount for those who would like to know what it was like from 1950-2000, after which came the cattle flying airplanes, the flying public reduced to the former Greyhound bus experience, train travel even in Euope dumbed down to fast speeds and 0 dining experience.

I wish I had a better travel outlook, but the global picture says the same, the masses work harder, they are the ants who marshal services for the privileged who will be a smaller and smaller list of who gets the major part of the best that there is, memories like mine will be at a premium, some might say a fantasy of a world when everyone enjoyed the best of life if they wanted it.

Another glass of half full blog: Forecast for your 2019 travel

NOTE:     This blog has no ads and I'm not beholden to hotels, cruise lines, tour companies or airlines, and that's why I can offer my readers the truth about all of the above + offer the many ways to enjoy comfort traveling for less

I’ve been hedging about whether or not to write this end of 2018 year blog, I am uncertain about making any predictions, and I hate to mislead, nor do I want to pervert my stated purpose of less $ comfortable travel.
Unfortunately, the news that I am permitted to read in the USA which is slanted towards a glass half full, views that the whole world is in disorder, and all more so here in the USA.
Oddly, there are no “yellow jackets” protesting and burning the elite compounds in major USA cities, nor are people sleeping in the streets, except in “sanctuary cities” in the states of California, Washington, and New York, since there are no housing projects in those cities located in the states I mentioned made available for the influx of illegal refugees from economic disasters worldwide, who come to these USA sanctuaries to work for less than the prevailing wage mostly off the books, which politicians like the most.
Even the poor undocumented aren’t complaining, they believe they will eventually have the vote when they bring their children into the world, and if they don’t yet legally have the vote in some of their sanctuaries, they get to use the “honor” system, but they “honor” their need and accept in kind contributions for aiding the candidates who love them.

Forgive me, I’ve vented my frustration, moreover, I’ve digressed insofar as less $ comfortable travel, the USA is dull and boring as I find  it at the end of 2018.
With only “themed” boutique Inns catering to those financially full of pension cash, and those who are employed at cash levels bordering on less work for more money than ever before, there is no more “real” town, only those that survive as “must see” places are staged and $$$ trove craft heavy for what used to be “homemade” by mother stuff.

Now for overseas travel, there is the usual Australia, and New Zealand where women reign and govern with babies on their hip, Hong Kong and Taipei, if their host country, China, is in a good mood.
Again, these are 2019 destination $$$ heavy for comfortable travel, but available to the pension retiree who is quickly moving toward their bucket, even while they eat their way to a medical intervention, that will postpone the consequences for over eating to fill up and to take advantage of what they missed when they were young, by working for little government pay—in those gratefully gone years when government employment wasn’t looked upon as a great job.

And that leaves the new Communist free now Western nations composed of the more as the USA press labels “extreme right wing” where less $$$ comfortable travel is in effect, and good law and order destinations if you aren’t worried about the “right wing” leaning governments that the USA press say are bad places.
The parts of Italy that lay far south into Sicily are yet good for my stated blog purpose of less $$$ comfortable travel, but keep away from the islands that are overpriced aimed at the pension cash crowd bourgeoisie worldwide, good for this blog's stated purpose most definitely the Austrian and “far right” wing nations that the USA media may define as less than free to European union dictum, like the city of Trieste, where people from warring nations meet and speak without rancor as they enjoy the beauty of a tranquil seaside and the best food ever.

I’d stay away from France and Germany.
Stay away from all the destinations that are experiencing the consequences of unbridled immigration from warring nations in the Mideast, whose people have fled to bring their political divisions and opinions to the lands that granted them refuge, but they can’t experience tranquility until they explode their anger toward destruction of a few persons here and there, who were part of the welcome mat that is now dirty with the rage.

Is there any place left where travel in 2019 is happy, worry-free and less $$$ for comfortable travel?

I don’t know about you, but I’m still going back to Trieste, it's where my $$$ go far and when I’m there I am expecting to tranquilly contemplate my next sea view, and my trip to the market to buy the best for my dining table—even this has a negative, there isn’t an easy way to get there without driving from Venice, or from one of the so-called “right wing” lands, or the 2 flights necessary, leaving from Rome not always plane gate friendly, and then with a 4-staircase long down to airport arrival, if you are carrying luggage, it’s necessary to start flexing muscles and do weight training in lieu of a wheelchair that gets to go into the arrivals area directly.

Please accept my apologies for this inglorious travel forecast, I can only wish you, whoever you are, wherever you are, a better 2019 than  I can travel forecast in this end of 2018 blog post, but I warned you, this another half full glass blog to end 2018..
